As we look deeper into the evolving trend of the waterless beauty trend we take into consideration the impact on water usage throughout the world in the production of certain cosmetics like shampoos – have you ever wondered how much hair nourishing ingredients are actually in the bottle when you use it compared to water?
A 1/4 of the world is impacted by extreme water shortages today and consumers have become increasingly eco-conscious. Therefore we see the amount of beauty, skincare, and cosmetics brands coming up with creative ways to produce better sustainable products.
So what is – waterless beauty? It refers to products which are formulated without water (H20). Instead, the use of various butters, oils or waxes and oil-soluble actives are the ingredients to create the products. Water-free beauty products normally come more concentrated than water-based counterparts because they have a higher level of active ingredients.
The best part too is that it falls hand in hand with packaging – the less water used – the smaller the product – the less packaging is needed. Creating less packaging waste – creating a better sustainable cycle.
As a result of this research, our formulators took up the task of formulating three waterless beauty products for you to try in this trend and here are the results.
